SAS: “A second home”
Hamilton’s School for Advanced Studies (SAS) has made a difference over the years. Counselor Ms. Sackett said Humanities students end up doing big things after high school, and she couldn’t be more proud.
Samantha Rosales, a senior in SAS, said Ms. Sackett was a character in the most fun way. “Even on my bad days, she made sure I laughed with her,” Samantha said. “Her jokes, facial experiences, and even the love she gave made me comfortable around her.”
Students said SAS becomes a second home once you get in the flow of things.
Quiana Vasquez, a senior in SAS expressed how much she valued Ms. Sackett. “Through all my years of school life, she made my high school one to remember,” Quiana said. “When I had an issue, I knew I could go and talk to her. Ms. Sackett became my comfort person.”
Brandon Rios expressed how his teachers also show character when teaching their classes. “Although school is hard, my teachers in SAS make it possible to get through the rough times.”
Humanities alumni remember and appreciate Ms. Sackett and her program.
Starr Munoz, a 2022 graduate, said Ms. Sackett “starts to become your second mom, and continues to have you thrive.”
“She’s the homie,” said Anthony Reyes, who graduated in 2022. “Her bond with my friends and I made us all get through high school together.”
Another fellow student, Bryan Rivas, said, “Saying goodbye to her really hurt, and as I walked up the stage she gave me a big hug. She holds a special memory from my high school years.”
