As a festive greeting to the fall season, Hamilton’s Latino Student Organization (L.A.S.O) hosted a dance for students. Their “Baile de Otoño” was a gathering in the small gym with entry for $1, a mix of live and pre recorded music, and concessions sold by ASB .
At the beginning of the dance while students walked inside, Hamilton’s Banda played a few songs. They ended their set with “El Toro Mambo” while the L.A.S.O cabinet introduced themselves and the event. Students then danced together and enjoyed the festivities while a preset playlist got students involved with the vibe of the dance.
Students danced to different genres of Latin music, including songs like “La Iguana” and “La Chona.” Many students got involved in partner dances with their friends as well as group circles to dance together.
L.A.S.O vice president and AMPA senior Melanie Flores danced as well, encouraging students to get onto the dance floor throughout lunch.
“This is my first time actually being part of this,” Melanie said about the event organization. “It’s my first time being on the cabinet for L.A.S.O. I really like this experience.”
Melanie also said that the club aims to host more events like the fall dance that are accessible for students.
“I think we should definitely do more of this in the future, so I’m encouraging everyone to join and have fun,” said Melanie.
