If you hang out in the quad at Hamilton, you have probably spent time talking and joking with Gonzo. Gonzo is a popular staff member who likes to make sure we all get to where we need to be. He is a big part of everyone’s life, and this will make it hard for us to say goodbye to Gonzo.
Gonzo will retire at the end of this semester after working at Hamilton for almost 20 years.
The news surprised SAS senior Gemma Alfaro.
“This is unexpected because he is a really well known staff at Hami,” she said. “I would have expected him to continue to work here for many more years.”
Gonzo said while it is hard to leave, he is excited for what is next.
“It’s sad to say goodbye, because all the staff here have become like family, even some students, we’ve built nice relationships,” he said. “But I also have other plans for my future that I would like to pursue.”
Gonzo plans to start a new chapter by opening his own business and getting into barbering. He will be missed at Hami by many.
BIT senior Isabel Faustino said Gonzo was a staff member students could count on.
“It’s sad to see him go because he was a good staff, always making sure we got to class on time, and also always made me feel safe,” Isabel said.
