In a soccer match between two competitive high schools, Uni and Hamilton both showcased a game of determination on Monday. It ended in a score of 1-1.
One of the Hami soccer captains, Nicolas Gomez, a senior in SAS, said, “My mindset before going into a big game is to always have fun and to be able to be a leader to my teammates.”
The game started with Hami scoring first. #24 Kai Lahiri in particular was going strong, taking multiple shots on goal with the crowd cheering him on. Although the game was played at Uni, more people seemed to be there to support Hamilton’s soccer team.
Gomez said a practice on the Uni field before the hefty game helped them score the first goal in the beginning of the game.
Although Uni seemed to be struggling to keep up with Hami, they still seemed very determined and ended up with one goal during the second half, tying the game.
In strategic play, Hami showed a controlled pace of the game and maintained their cool under pressure.
SAS Senior and team member Jorge Velasquez said, “I feel excited most of the time, ready to play, [and] ready for the outcome.”
