At Alexander Hamilton High School, the lacrosse team has been quietly building a tradition of growth, passion, and dedication for over several years. Coach Gaiter is a key contributor to the program and is determined to keep that momentum going by focusing on the development of younger players.
”I’m trying to develop the younger players so they can take the program to another level,” said Mr. Gaiter. “We’re in the process of rebuilding, and that means laying a strong foundation for the future.”

While the team may be in a rebuilding phase, the passion and drive has not gone anywhere. What keeps Gaiter going is watching the students grow not just as athletes but as people.
“It’s the fact that you see students grow as players,” he said. “Watching them when they first start, and then seeing them learn how to catch, cradle, and pass—it’s really a pleasure to see.”
Ingrid Kennedy, a lacrosse player and a 12th grader in SAS, said she loves all the girls on the team feeling united.
“ The enjoyment of playing lacrosse comes from scoring goals and wanting to see the team be successful,” Ingrid said.
