As the school year comes to an end, many students are struggling with balancing their heavy workloads in terms of exams, projects, etc.
On top of that, it is AP testing season, causing more academic pressure and struggle for students. With several exams, it’s harder for students to manage both in-school and out-of-school responsibilities.
Krysta Lee, a 12th grader in Humanities, shared her feelings after the test, “I feel like AP testing would have been a lot easier if I had actually studied.”
Some students felt confident in their preparations while others worried whether they studied enough and found it difficult to work around their personal schedules.
To prepare, some resources to turn to are AP Classroom, Crash Course, and Heimler’s History, but the biggest resource available is your teachers.
Mr. James, an AP Chemistry teacher in SAS, highlighted his progress with his students by saying, “We actually came further this year than we ever got before. I followed the AP classroom unit CD model.”
Students who have strategies to study and review content for their subject may feel better going into the test and may work more efficiently. Students can take practice exams, participate in study groups, attend review sessions and can even benefit from last minute cramming.
Nancy Jiselle, a 10th grader in SAS, shared her approach.
“I looked up study videos on YouTube,” Nancy said. “I also went through review videos on Khan Academy for each lesson and unit.”
Despite the difficulty of AP testing and the challenge for students trying to keep afloat with finals coming soon, students hope their efforts will ultimately pay off when the results come in July.
