On Wednesday, the Hami girls´ softball team went up against Fairfax High for their senior night home game at Baldwin Hills Recreation Park and played through to an outstanding win, ending with the score at 17-0. After stealing bases, hitting home runs, and having a great fielding percentage from various players on the team, Hami celebrated their win by giving their appreciation to the seniors who gave it their all.
#54 Sydney Miranda, an AMPA senior who plays second base, said, ¨Playing my last game made me feel so emotional and happy because this will be my last time playing for high school. I really enjoyed playing softball this year and enjoyed building a bond with my teammates.”
The Hami girls´ senior night was an overall resounding success, bringing a positive and courageous attitude on and off the field. The game started off with long period at 0-0, but Hami built up to outstanding play, making hits and runs to start scoring, leading them on top going into the 2nd and 3rd inning. Fairfax gave it their all to come back, but Hami were on a fire, maintaining a continuous streak of scoring.

While Hami was dominating the majority of the game, families, friends and even Hami principal Ms. Baxter came to support, cheering on every batter that went up to bat to give them the confidence they needed. Everyone there had their phones out recording, taking pictures, and screaming encouragement.
¨I thought yesterday’s game was pretty amazing,”Ms. Baxter said. Itś also great to attend senior night. I know the modernization project, it has been tough for our fans to attend games. I really enjoyed seeing so much family support.”
