With Halloween just around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about what costume to wear. Classic? Niche? Funny? With an abundance of movies, TV shows, books, and internet culture to choose from, how does one decide what to go with?
If you are struggling to come up with an idea perhaps I could help or at least inspire you to have the spookiest/scariest/funnest time this All Hallows Eve.
KPop Demon Hunters
With a number 1 on the billboard top hundred for August 2025 and holding onto the top spot on the Netflix Top 10 for 15 weeks straight, it’s hard to argue against the culture impact the movie K Pop Demon Hunters had. Going as the main characters Rumi (white cropped turtle neck, yellow jacket, grey shorts), Mira (grey top, yellow skirt, thigh high boots), or Zoe (blue crop top, yellow and black cargo pants) is a great group costume and even if you are going alone you are bound to find others dressed as them.
Pro Tip: Cardboard, tape, and glow in the dark paint can be used to make their weapons on a budget.
Superman/Superhero/Super Villain
Superheros and Super Villains never go out of style and especially when James Gunn just released Superman a classic costume like that will be fun and easy to do. Finding a superhero costume online is easy but a fun take on it might be dressing as the superhero’s alter ego (think Bruce Wayne, Clark Kent) it allows you to dress up as two things at once. Also, dressing as alter egos can be perfect if you’re dramatic because then you can tear off your shirt and swoop to the rescue of unsuspecting trick-or-treaters.
Pro Tip: Get a fan and position it for optimal photos with that wind blown look.
Group Costumes
If you have a big group of friends then you know how hard it is to plan things. This hardship is amplified by wanting to do a group costume for Halloween. Group costumes are classic from Scooby Doo! to Alice in Wonderland to South Park, you have plenty of options. Deciding may be hard because of competing opinions but don’t let Halloween costumes come between you and your friends. That’s horrific.
Pro Tip: Delegate roles early in the process, and make it clear that it does not reflect anyone’s standing in the friend group.
