Say Hej to the newest IKEA in Culver City!
After years of having to travel long distances to reach an IKEA, Angelenos can finally enjoy a nearby furniture store they can rely on.
The grand opening took place on Saturday, May 2 in the historic Helms Design District. The arrival was highly anticipated with crowds of people seen waiting in line before the doors even opened.
IKEA staff member James expressed his excitement about the new location. “I mean, it’s really nice… although it’s pretty small, there’s finally a place where people can rely on without driving so far,” he said.

Unlike traditional large-format IKEA stores, the Culver City location features a more neighborhood-friendly format, displaying products throughout the space for added convenience.
Humanities junior Abigail Lopez shared her enthusiasm about the new store.”I feel like they put it in a really good place where it’s accessible to other sections of LA,” she said. “This isn’t your ordinary IKEA… I think they’ll sell strictly furniture, but I think that’s still fun.”
Another Humanities Junior Ella Shalhoub shared her curiosity about the area in specific. “[The] Helms District is relatively small, so I’m interested to see how they’ll fit everything inside,” she said. However, despite the location, she mentioned her love for the IKEA menu. “IKEA has really good food, so I’m excited to go.”
With its central location and neighborhood format, LA residents no longer have to make the long drive. So with that being said, go out and explore LA’s newest iconic mini department store, IKEA!
