At last, the class of 2026’s time as high school students is coming to a close. Since then, memories have been made and have flourished across the campus. Hami Seniors have spoken about what their favorite memories are of their time here and now that they are done with the year, what they will miss most, and how they currently feel being a week away from graduating.
For Humanities Senior David Wilson, he seems ready to move on to the next step! Of his favorite things he’s experienced his time here his most favorite has been his recent final days here. “I’m honestly pretty happy and excited about leaving high school, but also cautious at the same time.” While he is excited to move on to the UCSD, he finds his commute to Hamilton much shorter than what he will have to do during university which he will miss.
In addition, Humanities Senior Andres Gonzalez’s favorite thing will be how there will be less work from now and his amazing experiences at Hami. “All of the people I’ve met and activities I’ve done, such as band, I’ve gotten a lot of experience and performance opportunities due to them.” Being an upcoming CalPoly San Luis Obispo freshman leaves many feelings left behind as a graduating senior. He has feelings of bittersweetness, but also excitement as he is ready to be done with high school.
Finally, for AMPA Senior William Vasquez, his journey through Hamilton has been a fun one. Experiencing the school’s pep rallys have given him his own school spirit. The environment of students enjoying themselves with cheers have created an atmosphere our seniors won’t forget! What he will miss, however, will be the teachers since their friendly nature left a positive mark on his time at Hamilton. Next year, William will be attending CalPoly Pomona; he is excited for high school to be coming to a close. At the same time, he can’t help but be weary of the future. “I think it’s sort of sad,” William said, “but I also think it’s an amazing journey that everyone should cherish, especially with the four years we’ve experienced. It’ll stick with them forever.”
Hamilton is a special place where we all have made our mark and changed for the better. With our seniors graduating on June 8th, we hope that they will succeed in life, but will forever remember what being a Yankee was like.
