With the final holidays of 2025 approaching, there is one thing on many music listeners’ minds. Their music wraps on their respective music platform, Spotify Wrapped and or Apple Music Reply. These Music wraps are released to their respective listeners in the early weeks of December which I would consider an early Christmas present.
What is a music wrap? The music is the collection of music you have listened to from January 1 to a few weeks before the wrap is released. It covers everything about your music taste of that specific year. From your top five songs, to your top five artists. It can also tell you how often you played a specific song and artist. I had this teacher who had Taylor Swift’s album “The Tortured Poets Department” on their Spotify Wrapped. In fact the majority of the album was. I say this to say that these wraps are often highly anticipated and looked at with a very analytical eye and it’s something I do.
When I get my Spotify Wrapped I judge it and it reminds me of the year I’ve had. From being hyper-fixated on one genre/artist or listening to a specific set of songs because of what I am going through personally, is something I tend to forget because of the time that has passed. It is also a major conversation starter between people. Many people tend to post their results via social media, sparking a reason to converse.
I, like many others, look at our wraps as our summary of the year. The music platform reminding us of our break up or reminding us of the memories made with those you love. The yearly wraps are the very thing many listeners look forward to.
