The Best Seats: Prom Chairs

With prom coming soon to Hamilton, so does the reveal. 

Prom chairs Kylie Neal and Kendall Lewis have been working hard on making this dance a memorable night for seniors. The girls are committed to this role, from the first day of just talking and planning prom out to now. Both girls have learned how much work it is to plan an amazing prom. 

“So far prom planning has been everything I expected and more,” said Kylie, a senior in AMPA. “From struggling to lock down a venue to the exciting moment of announcing the theme, it has all been such a beautiful experience.”

Kendall, also an AMPA senior, feels the same way. “It has its ups and downs and we had problems securing a venue, but I am happy with our progress so far and can’t wait to see our beautiful Celestial Garden,” she said. 

Students noticed that this year’s prom theme was revealed on Instagram: Celestial Garden.

Though the quad was unfortunately unavailable for the reveal, Kendall and Kylie made it work by making videos that built suspense, and were fun to film for not only themselves, but for all of the other seniors waiting to find out this year’s theme.

“I loved the videos we filmed that revealed the theme on instagram. We had a lot of fun making them,” said Kylie. “I also think it was the easiest way to get [it] out there since without a stage, we were unsure of where our reveal could reach the most seniors.”

Kendall, however, was definitely prepared with ideas if the quad was available to announce the theme. “Knowing that me and Kylie are very “extra” people, I’m pretty sure we would’ve had a super cute and decorated poster to unfold at lunch in the quad. Maybe even having a microphone and music to go along with everything,” she said. 

Now that the theme is out, it’s all just preparation for the big day. Both Kendall and Kylie are excited to see their vision come to life, but Kylie is especially excited for everyone to have a good night after all of the planning they have done. “My expectations for prom are to see a beautifully decorated celestial garden that me and my co-prom chair mapped out come to life with good food, music, and everyone coming to have an amazing night,” she said. 

If you were wondering what it’s like to be prom chairs, Kendall and Kylie can tell you all about it. “It’s stressful trying to find the right venue because many are booked,” Kendall said. “Mostly, I love my position and it comes with so many great things. I love that we get to think of all of the cool features to add to prom so that it can be fun for everyone else.” 

Even though a lot of outside opinions arise, Kylie knows that her and Kendall can get the job done. “Prom is already the most important event of senior year. It’s nice knowing that with my partner and I in charge, we won’t let the class of 2026 down!”
